A big shout out to the High Schools in the DMV whose teachers motivated their students to produce works of art that were as unique as each one of them. The 18 participating schools included Albert Einstein High School, Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, Byrn Mawr School, Holton Arms, Landon School, Liberal Arts High School, Montgomery Blair High School, National Cathedral School, Northwest High School, Richard Montgomery High School, St. Albans, Saint Andrews Episcopal School, Sidwell Friends High School, Thomas S. Wooton High School, Walt Whitman High School, Walter Johnson High School, Washington Waldorf School and Winston Churchill High School.

We are very grateful to Ann Schlesinger, Yellow Barn Instructor, Adjunct Professor of Art at Georgetown University and Fulbright Scholar in Painting for her expertise and time to jury the forty competitive artworks from the 156 submissions. Visit Ann at http://annschlesinger.com/

The Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio would like to express our “Thanks” to several very important people and groups without whom this show would not have been possible.

We sincerely thank The Friends membership and supporters whose dues and generous donations allow us to give back to our community for this very worthy event.

And, we would like to express our gratitude to Jack Fuller who every year has donated the “Second Place” award in memory of his wife, Mitzi Yater Fuller, a Washington artist and teacher who was a devoted student of the Yellow Barn for many years.

Lastly, we would like to thank Plaza Art and Tara Walsh for their continued support and dedication to The Friends! Plaza donated our “Best in Show” gift certificate for $500 for this show.  Our events would not be the same without Plaza Art… Yay Plaza!!

It is clear that this is a time of heightened creativity. For the first time many of our student artists put their work up for sale. The artists are responsible for their sales, and the delivery of their works. The Friends will contact the young artists if there is a prospective buyer.

Congratulations to the 156 talented artists who submitted their work to this show!.

Many thanks to everyone who took part in this event!
