The Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio & Gallery is sponsoring an art competition for all high school sophomores, juniors and seniors from Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington DC.

​

This year, our Juror is Leo Ramos, Manager of the YellowBarn Studio. He has received several awards including Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts, Congressional Scholar in the Arts, and first and second place award at the Kensington paint the town plein air event. The Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio will award:

- First Prize of a $500 gift certificate from Plaza Art. 

- Second Place $250 cash award and

- Third Place Award of $100 cash.

A $25 gift certificates from Plaza Art will be awarded to the other works selected for the exhibition.  

​

Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior art students in either public, private high schools, or home schooled may submit one piece for judging.

​

All entries must be submitted electronically.  You can download a copy of your artwork at the end of this Registration Form. 

​

Deadline for submission is Friday, March 3rd at 5 pm. No exceptions due to jurying of the show.

Artist will be notified via e-mail of acceptance into the show.  

All of the selected artwork will be exhibited in a virtual exhibit starting March 25th, 2023. 

​

  • Forty works will be selected for display in a virtual gallery on The Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio web site.  Each work must be submitted electronically.  You must submit your artwork at the end of this entry form.

​

  • Each artist may select one work to submit for jury.  All work must be from the artist's original ideas and only drawings and paintings will be accepted in any medium.

​

  • Mixed media and prints can be included, (Photography, Sculpture, Computer or Xerox generated prints will not be accepted). There is no limit to size, and the Yellow Barn Studio & Gallery reserves the right to reject pieces deemed inappropriate.

  • Photograph your work without frame or glass to avoid glare.

  • Please rename your image (jpg or jpeg) with your last name and title of artwork (i.e., Smith Spring Sunset.JEPG). Your name must appear within the image file name on the jpeg so that when we post on the gallery, the art will be listed with the correct artist's name. Artwork title on registration is limited to 30 characters, including space/s.

  • No PDF file accepted

  • NOTE: The image in the virtual gallery will be image of the artwork only (no mat, frame or glass are accepted on photograph). The dimensions asked for in the registration will be the size of the framed work (i.e., 16 x 20) in inches.

  • Sales Procedure:

    • No commission on sales for this juried Members virtual show.

    • Artists will be contacted by the show manager on sales inquiries to connect you with the buyer.

    • Artists will process their own sales, and arrange for delivery, or mailing of the art work to buyer.

    • Artists agree to deliver their artwork in good condition to the buyer, and professionally framed.

    • Artists are responsible for collecting and reporting sales tax.

The Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio is not responsible for processing sales, delivery/shipping of artwork represented in the show, damage or loss of artwork in transit to buyer.

  • Registration Details: 

    • Upon successful submission, A light box will appear to confirm your entry was received and an email confirmation will be send accordingly.

    • If a correction is needed, please resubmit your registration (FINAL submission included in gallery). 

    • If you need assistance in changing the title of your image, or with registration please email us at least ONE week prior to deadline at: info@friendsoftheyellowbarnstudio.org

       

Only forty works submitted will be selected for this prestigious exhibition.
