Annual Friends of the Yellow Barn Drawing & Water Based Media Exhibition

Labor Day Weekend at the Yellow Barn Studio and Gallery

September 3-5, 2022

The Friends of the Yellow Barn are holding a drawing & water-based media exhibition open to all members of the Friends of the Yellow Barn.  This will be a “live” show only with no on-line component. The exhibition will take place Labor Day weekend, September 3rd – September 5th from 12:00-6:00pm.  A reception for the exhibition will be held on Saturday, September 3rd from 4:00-6:00pm. Last year we had over 1,500 visitors over the long weekend. This year The Friends will sponsor two awards of $150 each, one award for Drawing and one award for Water Based Media.

Eligibility Requirements:

• All work must be original, in a drawing medium (pastel is accepted) or water based medium, water color or gouache, professionally framed and, ready to hang with wire along the width of the work.  All work on paper must have glass or Plexiglas.

• Please attach an index card to the back of the work with Title, Artist’s name, dimensions, email or phone #

• Gallery has the right to turn away work for not following these guidelines.

• All artwork must not have been shown previously at a Friends of the Yellow Barn Exhibition

• Two pieces may be entered for this exhibition

• The Yellow Barn will not take a commission for sold work at this event.  

• Artists must be a member of the Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio as of August 26, 2022

Exhibition Timeline:

• Friday, August 26th: Deadline to register.

• Drop off art work (label located on back of art) Friday Sept. 2, 4:00-7:00 pm

• Saturday and Sunday – September 3rd-4th : Gallery Open from 12:00-6:00pm, Artist Reception, Saturday 4-6pm

• Monday, September 5th  Gallery Open 12;00- 5:00pm

• Pick up unsold work at 5pm, on September 5th.

About the Exhibition:

Every Labor Day at the Yellow Barn Studio our instructors, students, and members celebrate Drawing and Water Based Media.  While the Yellow Barn is known for its classes in oil, watercolor, and acrylic painting; we understand the importance of drawing and how exceptional drawing skills lead to exceptional paintings.  This exhibition celebrates pencil, pastel, pen and ink, charcoal, and any medium used to make a line. In addition we have added water based media into the mix to support the many water color and gouache artists associated with the Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio.
